Thursday, September 2 meeting: The Education Debate

Sefton Democracy Club is holding its next meeting on Thursday (September 2) with the main topic being education.

An expert will give a brief overview on how the education system has evolved in this country followed by a discussion by members on the future of education in Britain.

This will be the third meeting of Sefton Democracy Club which co-founder Patrick McKinley says is going from strength to strength.

Patrick said: "We had more than 40 people attend the last meeting and we had a really interesting question and answer session with leading Sefton councillors as well as local business people.

"This time we are planning to have a debate on education which is a very hot topic considering that we have just seen the GCSE and A Level results go up again.

"During the debate we will be asking and discussing some of the big questions about the comprehensive schooling system, is it working and what is the future of education?"

Sefton Democracy Club is open to all and free to attend.  Members also decide what the topics are going to be and decide how the club evolves.

The meeting will be held at Maghull Town Hall on Thursday (September 2) starting at 7.30pm.
